| It nests at the margins of woody areas, in clearings, hilly soils with tall trees, big bushes and hedges. In the south-western part of the range it is located on mountain slopes up to 1500 m. Sedentary. It has suffered a drastic decline north of its range (e.g. Great Britain ). In Italy it nidifies except in the north-east, the Po Valley and Salento . Dimensions: 15-16,5 cm.
